"Mountains. God likes to do big work on mountains. In the Bible are various locales for divine encounters including: wilderness, towns and cities, even the seaside. But it is on mountains that Almighty God does big things.
On a mountain God spoke His words, His understanding to Moses, who captured it all in the Ten Commandments. Even more wondrous, on a mountain God transfigured His Son, Jesus, displaying His divine glory.
People experience a closeness with God in the mountains. Here is a sense of the vastness of God and Creation, and a stillness that quiets all noisy bustling and busyness.
Words you've heard before come alive: majesty, splendor, silence. It's what Celtic Christian mystics call "the thin places."
Here in the higher reaches of the mountains of Georgia, Sharp Memorial finds itself blessedly located to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world." ~DT
